How to Remove Charmi Images from Product Variants?
Sometimes you may need to remove an image stored in the Charmi image metafield and start again with a different image.
When Should You Remove a Charmi Image?
There are a few common situations:
- You previously had the same image assigned to all variants. Later, you assigned the correct images to individual variants, but the builder continues to use the old Charmi images.
- An image was optimized incorrectly. For example, it was trimmed too much and you want to optimize it again.
When a Charmi image is assigned to a variant, Charmi uses this image in the builder instead of the regular variant image. This means that simply changing the variant image in Shopify will not replace an existing Charmi image.
In order to start using the regular variant image again - or to optimize it from scratch - you will first need to remove the existing Charmi image.
Option 1: Remove Charmi Image Individually
If you only need to fix one or a few images:
- Click the three dots (⋯)
- Select Edit storefront settings

- Click Optimize component images
- Find the variant you want to update
- Click the Charmi image link

You'll be redirected to that variant in Shopify.
- Find the Charmi image metafield
- Click Clear to remove the existing image

- Click Save

You can now return to Charmi and optimize the image again.

Option 2: Use Shopify's Bulk Editor
If you're dealing with multiple variants that have incorrect Charmi images, the Shopify bulk editor is a faster option.
- Open the product with variants in Shopify.
- Select the variants you want to update.

- Click Bulk edit
- Click Columns

- Find and select Charmi image
The Charmi image column will now appear in the bulk editor.
- Remove a Charmi image from one variant

- Click Save

- Repeat the process for the remaining variants
Now return to Optimize component images.
Done! The old Charmi images have been removed.
