How to Optimize Charm Images for Builder? (Automatically)
If an image has a background or incorrect proportions, it can break the visual experience in the builder and make the design look inconsistent.

How to Optimize Image for the Builder Automatically
Follow these steps to automatically create optimized images for your builder.
Optimized images improve the visual experience by making components look clean, centered, and consistent inside the builder.
Step 1: Open Storefront Settings
- Click the three dots (⋯)
- Select Edit storefront settings

You’ll see two ways to optimize images:

- Automatically using the optimization tool
- Manually by uploading custom images
In this guide, we’ll focus on automatic optimization using the built-in tool.
Step 2: Open the Optimization Tool
- Click Open tool

Inside the tool, images can be optimized using:

- Removing Background
Automatically creates a new image and removes the background from that image to create a cleaner and more professional look inside the builder.

This works especially well for:
- Charms
- Pendants
- Small jewelry components
- Trimming
Automatically creates a new image and trims unnecessary empty space around the product image.

This makes components:
- Larger and easier to see
- Better aligned inside the builder
- More visually consistent
Step 3: Optimize Your Images
Below these settings, you’ll see all products from your component collection - 25 per page (for example, charms).
Some images may already:
- Have a transparent background
- Be properly sized for the builder

Let's optimize an image by removing its background and trimming unnecessary space.
- Select the image you want to optimize
- Enter a trimming percentage (for example, 10%)
- Click Optimize

You’ll see the image has been processed and optimized automatically: the background has been removed and space trimmed. ✨

Charmi will now use this optimized image inside the builder instead of the original product image.
You can click the metafield link to see where the optimized image is stored.
Step 4: Result
Now it’s time to see the result ✨
Open your builder and preview your components.

You’ll notice that the optimized image is now being used inside the builder and fits much better visually.
You can now go back and optimize the remaining images in your component collection to create a polished and professional builder experience for your customers.
