# How to Personalize Products using Custom Fields?

You want to offer a box of personalized products for your customers, for example:

* A greeting card with a custom message
* A mug or cup with a photo printed on it
* A logo or note for corporate gift boxes
* A name embroidered on a jacket or a design provided by the customer

**Steps to Add Custom Fields**


1. Open the [Boxi app admin dashboard](https://admin.shopify.com/apps/boxi/app)
2. In the list of builders, click on the one you want to add custom fields
3. Navigate to the **Product personalizations** section and click on it

3. Click **Create personalization**

4. Click **Browse** and select the product you want to add custom fields to - make sure this product is already included in your builder

5. Click **Add custom field**, then choose the type of field you want to add - e.g., select I**mage upload** to let customers upload a photo

6. Add a Label (e.g., “Photo”) and choose whether the field should be required
7. Click **Done**, then **Save** your changes. You can add more fields if you want.

8. Open your builder on store and find the product with custom field.

✅ That’s it!

When the customer adds the box to cart, the personalized product will have a line item property with the value of the custom field.
