How to Add Custom Images for the Builder

A custom image is an image specially prepared for the Charmi builder. It allows you to optimize how your products look in the builder without changing the original product images in your store.

Why is this important?

If an image has a background or incorrect proportions, it can break the visual experience in the builder and make the design look inconsistent.

How to Add a Custom Image for the Builder

Follow these steps to upload a properly optimized image:

1. Open the Builder Editor

Click on the three dots and select Edit builder.

2. Open Your Component Collection

Find your component collection and open it.

3. Select a Product

Locate the product you want to edit (for example, a product with multiple variants) and open it.

4. Choose a Variant

Click on the specific variant that needs a custom image.

5. Upload a Custom Image

Scroll down to Metafields and click View all.

Find the Charmi image metafield (in the unpinned section) and click Select images

Upload an image with a transparent background and click Done

💡 You can also manage or edit images in the Shopify Media section.

6. Save Your Changes

Click Save.

Result

Even though your original product image remains unchanged (e.g., with a black background), the builder will now display the optimized version.

• Keep consistent size and proportions across components
• Center the product in the image
