# How to Add Custom Image for Base Product?

A **custom image** allows you to use a specific optimized image in the builder for the base product.

This is useful when your storefront base product image contains backgrounds, lifestyle photography, or styling that looks great on a product page but may not work well in the builder.

**How to Add a Custom Image for the Base Product in the Builder**

1. Open the product page of your base product in Shopify

For example, you might have a beautiful lifestyle image displayed in your store, but for the Charmi builder you may want to use a cleaner, more neutral image that provides a better customization experience for your customers.

To do this, you'll need to add a custom image using the Charmi image metafield.

2. Scroll down to the **Variant metafields** section. Click **View all**

3. Find the **Charmi image** metafield and click **Select images**

4. Upload or select the image you want to use in the builder. Click **Done**

5. Click **Save**

Charmi will now use the custom image inside the builder, while your original product images remain unchanged throughout your store.

This allows you to create a cleaner and more consistent customization experience without affecting your storefront design.
