How to Add Custom Fields to Products?

You want to offer a box of personalized products for your customers, for example:


  • A greeting card with a custom message
  • A mug or cup with a photo printed on it
  • A logo or note for corporate gift boxes
  • A name embroidered on a jacket or a design provided by the customer



This feature is available starting from the Advanced plan.


Steps to Add Custom Fields



  1. Open the Boxi app admin dashboard
  2. In the list of builders, click on the one you want to add custom fields
  3. Navigate to the Product personalizations section and click on it

  1. Click Create personalization

  1. Click Browse and select the product you want to add custom fields to - make sure this product is already included in your builder

  1. Click Add custom field, then choose the type of field you want to add - e.g., select Image upload to let customers upload a photo

  1. Add a Label (e.g., “Photo”) and choose whether the field should be required
  2. Click Done, then Save your changes. You can add more fields if you want.

  1. Open your builder on store and find the product with custom field.


✅ That’s it!


When the customer adds the box to cart, the personalized product will have a line item property with the value of the custom field.
